Marriage Customs in Thailand

In Thailand, bride customs are a home encounter. Relationships may be arranged by families, and a man may win the respect of both his bride’s home and his own. This can be seen in the Sin Sod dowry and the custom of giving the couple’s family gifts of cash and golden. This behavior is viewed as a sign of the groom’s social standing and wealth.

A partners may encourage an unusual variety of monks to their house on the wedding day so they can conduct Rod Nam Sang, a unique blessing ritual. The clergy does give the brides liquid as a blessing and wish them success in their marriage.

Procession for Khan Maak

The man and his home will lead a parade to the couple’s home on the wedding day with trays of meal, flowers, and other items. The individuals in this celebratory and enjoyable ceremony sing music to the beat of much Thai drum. Sin Sod, cash, another gifts, betel nuts, fragrance sticks, candles, grains, and other opportune items that stand for passion, prosperity, longevity, or fertility are all found on the trays.

An elder from the groom’s family will put a customary tiara made of cotton on the bride and groom after they have passed the walls of the bridal residence. The two minds are subsequently looped jointly with a particularly prepared pale thread called” sai monkhon,” which represents the idea that even though they are uniting, they will always be separate entities.
